lace me up

You've undoubtedly heard my rant on here before about my love for the lace trend (so long as it is done the right way...) and THIS, my friends, is the right way if I ever saw one. Ashley Tisdale rocks one of 'Stone Cold Fox's' lace blouses in yet another fabulous way to create the look of effortless chic...

menswear : movin' on up

Menswear is hot, there's no question about that. But when it comes to footwear, the only mens inspired looks I've seen revolve around flats. Loafers. Oxfords. (Unless ya'll have an eye out somewhere I don't...) And while I die over any flat (oxfords especially) it would be nice to see some height added to this look. Well, wish no more Lauren. The L.A.M.B. Nathan heel, available at Piperlime, is a fabulous example of how menswear can be given a fabulous leg-up in the fashion world. Available in tan or black, this bootie is a great way to further the menswear-inspired pieces you have in your wardrobe.

brace(let) yourself

Ahhhh, I just LOVE a fabulous, frugal find. Yesterday, I was innocently browsing the likes of Ideeli, not really expecting to find much either, to tell you the truth (I've been in a shopping rut lately)...but when I came across the Leghelena bracelets at over half off I almost peed myself. Anyway, these bracelets are divine. I first saw them on Elements of Style and hadn't heard a word about them previously. Reminiscent of an Hermes cuff, which would cost you thousands, these babies ring in around only $70 to $110 depending on the size you choose BUT for only a few more days on Ideeli they're availible for a mere $28 or $35! Are you kidding?! STEAL.

on the fringe

On the Fringe...
Fringe is my latest obsession. Throw on a vest over a plain tee or a skirt to jazz up any outfit! What's even better is that this trend will easily carry over into the fall and winter with that fabulous pair of Minnetonka's I have been lusting over for the past three winters! (Maybe I'll actually get around to purchasing a pair this year...) The necklace too...delicious. Ah! I simply can't stop looking at all of these pieces and wishing them into my closet! Disclaimer: I do think it can be rather easy, however, to cross the line between fringe-chic and fringe-homeless. There is nothing wrong with DIY fringe, but if you partake in the craft, or even when you're out shopping on the hunt for fringe, make sure to stay between the lines without crossing from tres chic to 'Edward Scissorhands got a hold of my blouse'!

classy travel

This time tomorrow I will be two hours and sixteen minutes into the road trip I'm embarking on to see my favorite 22 year old boy...my sweet brother! Luckily he lives in a big 'ol city so we will have plenty of things to do while I'm there for what will seem like a split second, only the weekend. While traveling a long distance anywhere can seem daunting, if you know how to dress comfortably and functionally while still maintaining a stylish edge you'll be that much better off! Here's a scan from one of my favorite coffee table books, Classy by Derek Blasberg, regarding the best way to dress for travel that doesn't involve a tracksuit or sweats! Loving...
...Happy early weekend all! See you next week!

kloss in fall 2011 de la renta

I don't post many videos on here, but this was one exception I could easily make. Watch Karlie Kloss, our fav model born and raised in the Midwest herself (where else!), strut her stuff in a campaign for Oscar de la Renta's fall line. Two of our absolute favs? We couldn't be happier.

princess kate + jbrand

Think dressing like a princess involves countless personal connection to fabulous designers and revolves around the saying "No budget is the best budget"? Think again! Well...not that JBrand isn't a fabulous brand...but definitely much more accessible for you and me! That's right dolls, Princess Kate has been spotted multiple times in the same (yep, you heard me. SAME.) pair of JBrand denims during her and her real-life Prince hubs' visits to the US and Canada this past week. Add Princess Kate next to Olivia Palermo on the list of 'Fabulous People Who Wear Things More Than Once"...

urban turban

My absolute fav [redacted] boutique where I live has recently brought an up-and-coming trend to my attention that I had slowly but surely been starting to notice...
...I first saw the turban trend on Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City 2. As usual, SJP rocked it and the full turban quickly evolved into the 'turban headband' seen all over on celebs and fashionistas alike. I'm definitely more of a fan of the headband rather than the full coverage turban, but what a boho-chic way to add in a pop of color or some sparkle to liven up any ensemble! Are you on board?

like music to those ears...

Brace yourselves, ladies, you may want to sit down for this one. I have just read the most magical fashion news article that may very well change our lives forever faster than you can say "Olivia Palermo is coming out with her own style blog!"
Wait...what did I just say???
Oh yes, you heard me. THE ONE AND ONLY OP HAS FINALLY DECIDED TO LAUNCH HER VERY OWN STYLE BLOG. Like I said, our lives are about to be changed forever. The style diva herself will hit the internet in mid-summer and I plan on having a front row seat! Read your little heart out here for more deets.
