is spring here yet?

xmas text convo

This was a conversation between an acquaintance of mine and her mother via text message. My life, and apparently hers too, in a nutshell!

MOM: What are you wearing for Christmas Eve?
ATS: I was thinking my black ruffle skirt and sequin blazer...
ATS: Or I could wear my sequin blazer and sequin leggings [insert laugh]
MOM: Great so we could tell our guests that they could get their picture taken by the tree or by Amanda!

...Because it's just not Christmas without a little fabulocity and a LOT of sparkle! xoxo

You know what I love? A great pair of jeans. Not a good pair...A GREAT PAIR. I'm what you'd refer to as a self-proclaimed jeanaholic. Denim is my drug of choice, if you will. And I'm not talking about your comfy, so-baggy-they're-practically-sweat-pants jeans. Oh no, I'm talking your ridiculously-expensive-but-totally-worth-it-when-you-put-them-on jeans, the ones you maxed out your credit card on but seem to forget all about that when you wear them because they make your legs look 20 pounds thinner and your butt like that of a 12 year old boy. Those who know me know I am the queen of frugality and probably one of the most intense fashion bargain hunters you will ever meet. But that road ends at the world of denim- call me ridiculous, call me crazy but I consider a $200+ pair of jeans an investment, a piece of clothing that is worn day in and day out until it literally wears itself out. Try on a pair sometime and you'll see EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

If there's one thing you'll quickly come to learn about me, it's that for whatever reason I absolutely ADORE Robert Pattinson. Ever since I saw the movie Twlight, I've become completely infatuated. While many find this infatuation absolutely absurd, I must warn avid readers that countless posts about RPats are headed your way. Praise Jesus for creating such a gorgeous man!

new beginnings

August has come and gone and it is now officially September, a month that marks many new beginnings. School has now started and I'm finally beginning to embrace my long-lost routine of waking up early, going to school, doing homework, going to bed, and starting the whole process over- an affair that lasts five days. On a happier note, college football has also officially begun and I was lucky enough to have my two favorite teams play on the same weekend- Auburn and MU. Of course, both my Tigers won :) There's just something about being in the presence of a football arena on a crisp fall day amidst thousands of cheering fans, the band playing in the background, sporting what only avid sports fans refer to as "THEIR primary colors". Although I'm a fan of a warm southern breeze year round, I can cope with the cooler weather so long as I have tickets to the game that weekend.
Another beginning I've had to face, though, is the beginning of many endings. Senior year in high school is rather bittersweet for someone like me, praying and praying that the last day of school will come much sooner than later but at the same time not wanting things to end so soon. It's a time of mixed emotions, reminiscing on both the past and the future and wondering just what's ahead of me- what's to become of me. I've had to pray a lot lately, asking God to show me where I'm supposed to be and to give me the strength to live my life for Him, according to His plan, and not mine.
